Welcome to Fort Macon…
I found this gem on an impromptu trip to Eastern North Carolina one weekend. I wasn’t able to take in all the park had to offer, such as the historic Civil War fort, but I was able to layout on the beach for a few hours and grab a couple of snacks from the canteen (because you know..food is life).
Okay back to business…I did manage to take a couple of photos while I was there and thought I would share them with you. Enjoy!
If I could describe this beach in one word, it would be serene. Fort Macon was probably one of the most peaceful beaches I had ever been to. Often beaches are overcrowded and loud, but this was not the case. In fact, I managed to catch a couple of zzz’s out there.
However, these photos in no way do this park justice so be sure to check it out on your own (and share your pictures with me).
Tip: Go early in the morning because parking is limited and the spaces fill up fast. We went around 8am (yes 8am) on a Saturday and were able to get a close park to the beach and concession area.
Let me know of some other hidden gems you’ve found recently. I’m always looking for somewhere new to travel.
